Macro-Ingredient Feeding
Most people are familiar with micro-ingredient feeding, but never think about the portion of their operation that is macro-ingredient feeding, that is, adding ingredients that form a significant percentage of the final product. This type of operation has often been left to a less accurate volumetric style of operation. This process can be made significantly more accurate through the use of gravimetric feeders with the capacity to meet large flow demands. Wireless Ethernet
All of our CTR3 Controllers are now available with wireless Industrial Ethernet networking. Modbus-TCP, Profinet, and Ethernet/IP are all available as options on the CTR3 Controllers, and now they are available in a wireless configuration. Conforming to the 802.11b and 802.11g Ethernet network standard, the network has a range of up to 328 feet (100m) indoors. Integration with your existing network is a matter of installing or utilizing a wireless access point on your wired network. With IEEE 802.11i-PSK or WPA (PSK, TKIP) encryption, the wireless network offers heightened security. Comptrol's wireless network option also supports 256-bit Advanced Encrpytion Standards (Rjindael) encryption for true end-to-end (wired to wireless to wired) secure data transfer. Utilizing a wireless network can save significant costs in installation and maintenance.

This issue's Tech Tip is about the Start and Stop Feeder Delay settings in BlendView. BlendView has a feature that allows you to make your blends even more accurate by making the beginning and end of your blending runs more accurate. When a blending run is started, there is an inherent delay in the time that it takes for the material to reach the destination from the source. The problem arises from the delay being different from each source. This is almost always the case, so BlendView has a feature to overcome it.
